Deacon supports New Forest Nightstop
New Forest Nightstop is a project run by Community First New Forest to provide emergency overnight accommodation for homeless 16-24 year olds in the homes of trained and approved host households around the New Forest.
Nightstop is not a permanent solution to youth homelessness but it gives a young person a breathing space in which to consider their situation. The charity currently receives its income from the Big Lottery Fund which provides money raised by the National Lottery to community groups and projects that improve health, education and the environment. This funding runs out in March 2012 and there is an urgent need to raise £50,000 annually in order to continue Nightstop's fantastic work helping vulnerable young people.
Deacon is helping New Forest Nightstop to raise this money and we are doing this through a number of fundraising and profile-raising initiatives that include:
- Sponsored bike ride
- Office block sponsored car washes
- Sponsored sleep out
- Staff raffles
- Staff monthly donations
- Manning the Nightstop stand at the New Forest Show to help raise the charity's profile
- Fundraising at the New Forest Show via a raffle with prizes generously donated by ARAG, Zennor and Zurich Insurance
- Giving professional support with marketing design, electronic marketing and social media to help develop their own skills
Penny Jepson, Head of Business at Deacon Insurance said: "We are very proud to be supporting Nightstop. Deacon specialises in providing insurance for those who are fortunate enough to have a roof over their heads and we understand the impact homelessness can have on a young person. Our team is very excited about helping Nightstop continue to provide a ray of hope to young people needing a safe bed and shelter for the night."
